Blackpool Zoo

Just two miles from the famous sea-front, Blackpool Zoo provides a home to over 400 animals from all over the world. The Zoo provides new standards of animal care and aims to provide a stimulating, informative and enjoyable experience that demonstrates its role in the conservation of endangered species.

Come on in and take a tour of the Zoo and the habitats and animals of the world; meet Professor Wilde who is always on hand to give lots of information, or to get you back home if you get lost! Follow the links to the left to visit each of the areas of the zoo, and don't forget to call in at the Trading Post where you can buy admission tickets and even adopt an animal on-line!

In addition, it also boasts some of the most exciting visitor attractions, including Gorilla Mountain - the UK's most exciting Gorilla close encounter and the state-of-the-art "Swimulator", which allows you to ride with the dolphins.

Treat yourselves to a ride on the train which travels from a station near the main entrance to the far side of the Zoo. The track runs through a beautiful woodland setting and offers views of some of our animals.

A chance for our young visitors to touch and maybe even feed our domestic animals. Located near the Ape House and specially designed to allow children to let off steam whilst the neighbouring orang-utans have a leisurely time on their climbing apparatus. Please ensure that your children are supervised in this area.

It's certainly safari so good for happy families at Blackpool Zoo. Proud mums show off their youngsters as the East Park Drive attraction plays a prominent role in a number of worldwide breeding programmes. The 32 acres animal kingdom is home to scores of species from lions roaming and roaring in their den to proud peacocks parading along the pathways with fanned out feathers and eyes for all to see.

A visit to Blackpool Zoo just has to be one of the best value days out. This is one expedition you can make throughout the year apart from Christmas Day and you'll find a cafe and licensed bar as well as ice cream stands and souvenirs to take home. Board the miniature Wild West Train for an exciting and rattling rail journey. We want to ensure everyone has the chance to make the most of their visit. There is a free wheelchair service for disabled visitors and, for families, a mother and baby room, as well as pushchairs to hire if the toddlers tire.

Ever wondered what food our residents eat? You can find out by watching meals being prepared in the animal kitchen before going on to catch the full flavour of feeding time. The sealions and penguins, in particular, absolutely delight in showing off at meal time.

Getting out to Blackpool Zoo could not be easier. You'll find free parking for 450 cars and there is a frequent bus services from the town centre throughout the holiday season. There are films, talks and audio-visual shows by zoo's own education officer all helping to introduce the adults of tomorrow to the vitally important conservation issues of today. Youngsters will enjoy letting off steam safely in adventure playground with all the latest equipment. One little known fact to many is that Blackpool Zoo also boasts a comprehensively equipped Zoo School which offers a year-round service for parties of schoolchildren.
